Description
Walking along the ancient pavement that in medieval times connected Perugia with Arezzo and Florence, you reach the Mariottella Castle. The Castle, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, was in medieval times a military outpost that guarded the narrow valley formed between Lake Trasimeno and the hills that overlook it to the north. The Castle, partly habitable and partly to be restored, still has some of its original features such as the cross vaults on the ground floor, imposing fireplaces and a single circular tower. From the Castle it is possible to enjoy a unique view of Lake Trasimeno. While enjoying absolute privacy, it is located less than a kilometer from the town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno.
