The village is full of elegant and noble residences of XVII and XVIII century designed in the classical Cilento style with a portal in local stone and wrought iron balconies. A special mention regards the Pavone Palace, belonging to one of the historical families of Torchiara; the Riccio Palace, which is today a prestigious B&B and the Torre Palace, representing the symbol of the town. Torchiara is an excellent place where to stay and visiting other lovely villages in Cilento within just 5 or 30 minutes of travel. Agropoli, (7km from Torchiara). It is an historic village of the sixth century characterized by a beautiful castle, the Aragonese tower which stands next to the Franciscan convent and it is very close to a series of beautiful beaches with crystal clear sea, such as the famous Trentova’s Bay. Castellabate (12 km from Torchiara). It is a gracious small town in one of the iconic location of the Cilento coast, famous for being the set of the Italian movie "Welcome to the South". Paestum (20km from Torchiara), it is a famous archaeological site that needs no introduction. Punta Licosa (20 km from Torchiara), a protected marine area, fringed with tall Aleppo pines, a presumed mythical place of the siren Leucosia who tried to seduce Ulysses (canto XII of the Odyssey). Pioppi (20 km from Torchiara), a fortress famous for its crystal sea. Velia (30 km from Torchiara), an archaeological site that contains the remains of one of the most beautiful cities of Magna Graecia, founded in 540 BC. Acciaroli (32 km from Torchiara), considered one of the most beautiful places in Cilento and famous for its crystal clear waters and the ancient village which is said to have inspired Hemingway for "The old man and the sea".
