In progressRoddi is an Italian municipality with about 1,600 inhabitants in the province of Cuneo, 4 km from Alba. Its current appearance is strongly medieval, with houses arranged in concentric circles around the castle and the 13th-century bell tower. The toponym derives from “raud” or “rod,” meaning river in the Celtic language, referring to the Tanaro River flowing in the plain below. It is home to the world's only "Truffle Hound University," established in 1880 by a resident of Roddi. As a vibrant cultural center, it hosts the Roddi Prize every year, a poetry competition organized by the homonymous association. A distinctive feature of the competition is the special attention given to manuscripts from children and school-age youths, as well as manuscripts in the Piedmontese dialect, which have dedicated sections in the Roddi Prize. Due to the increasing recognition the competition has gained over the years, in 2010, the municipal council bestowed upon Roddi the designation of "A village for poetry."
