In progressCastelletto Molina is a very small typical village in the hills of Alto Monferrato, in Basso Piemonte, rich in culture, history, architecture, landscapes, excellent food and wine and a sense of belonging. It has about 160 inhabitants and is about 10 km from Nizza Monferrato, 40 km from Asti and 12 km from Acqui Terme. The town's origins date back to Roman times, as confirmed by the discovery of archaeological finds. The main square is overlooked by the main places of interest: the Conti Veggi Castle, which is so important that it appears in a 16th-century fresco in the Vatican Museum Gallery, confirming its historical importance; and the parish Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo, in front of which stands the elegant town hall. Also particularly striking is the Oratory of the Annunziata, the small church that 'escaped' from the castle walls: witness the small Torre di Guardia, the fifth tower of the Conti Veggi Castle. An important curiosity for the history of these lands: the village is still one of the few centres in the Asti area to keep alive the practice of 'balon', the game of 'fist ball' or 'elastic ball', an emblem of the most genuine and popular Piedmont, which has always been one of the symbols of the peasant culture of lower Piedmont. Last but not least: Castelletto Molina is located in a strategic position in Piedmont, in the perfect barycentre between the cities of Milan (120 km), Turin (100 km) and Genoa (100 km), which makes it ideal for travelling and for international tourism aimed at discovering the Unesco beauties of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, recognised as World Heritage Sites in 2014.
