Decentral heating, Gas heatingCalosso is a "comune" (municipality) in the Province of Asti in the Piedmont region, and has been part of Unesco World Heritage since 2014. It rises on a high hill not far from the municipalities of Canelli and Costigliole d'Asti, between the valleys of the Nizza and Tinella. In 1531 Calosso, with the County of Asti, became part of the territories controlled by the Savoy and with the beginning of the seventeenth century and the War of succession of Monferrato, was involved in an infinite series of occupations by the various passing armies. Then, during the Peace of the Pyrenees in 1659, the Calossese fortress loses its strategic importance and is transformed by the Roero family of Cortanze, lords of Calosso, into an elegant and stately country residence, to take on the connotations still found today. Following these transformations the castle loses its original appearance of the imposing sixteenth-century fortress but remains the cylindrical turret and the access arch to the receiver. Of particular interest are the sixteenth-century bastions, which have also remained unchanged and characterize the north side of the fortress. The castle is now included among the "Castelli Aperti/Open Castles" of Lower Piedmont Region. In Calosso, the farms are very numerous and flourishing. The most practiced cultivation is the vine, and fruit trees. There are numerous DOC wines, among which we can mention Moscato d'Asti and Barbera d'Asti Superiore.
