341.86 kWh/m²aAsolo is a very small agricultural and artisan center in the province of Treviso and is part of the Club of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Due to its enchanting panoramic position among the hills, also painted by Giorgione, Asolo has always attracted artists and writers from all over Europe. Among these Giosuè Carducci, who called it "the city of a hundred horizons"; the English poet Robert Browning; Pietro Bembo, one of the most famous scholars of the sixteenth century; the musician Gian Francesco Malipiero, who found inspiration for some of his compositions. Eleonora Duse, the famous actress and lover of Gabriele D'Annunzio, spent the last years of her life in an elegant building and was then buried in the small and suggestive cemetery of Sant'Anna, facing Monte Grappa. The symbol of Asolo is the Rocca which dominates the landscape from the summit of Monte Ricco, offering a spectacular view. From here you can see the historic center of the city: Piazza Garibaldi with its sixteenth-century fountain, the Castle, which now houses the Duse Theater, and the ancient Cathedral, which houses the beautiful "Assunta" by Lorenzo Lotto. Also worth visiting are the Civic Museum, inside the fifteenth-century Palazzo della Ragione, the sixteenth-century Villa degli Armeni and the prestigious Town Hall, Palazzo Beltramini. Just outside the city centre, golf lovers can practice on a challenging and fascinating 18-hole course.
