Cherasco: Location and surroundings of this property

Cherasco is one of the most renowned and important municipalities in the Langhe, as well as one of the eleven towns where Barolo wine is produced. The town, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, has Roman origins and is located about 15 minutes from Alba and 10 minutes from Bra, on a plateau at the confluence of the Stura di Demonte and Tanaro rivers. In 1243, under the direction of Manfredi II Lancia, imperial vicar of Frederick II of Swabia, its development began, leading it to become the vibrant center it is today. The town boasts religious architectural works such as the Church of St. Augustine, built in 1672, the 12th-century Church of St. Peter, the 13th-century Church of St. Martin, and the Sanctuary of Madonna del Popolo, completed in 1702. Additionally, visitors can explore the Civic Museum, the "Giorgio Segre" Natural History Museum, the Museum of Magic, and the deconsecrated Church of St. Gregory, used for temporary exhibitions. Palazzo Salmatori, also known as the "Palace of Peace," dates back to 1620 and is located in the heart of the city, having witnessed significant historical events. The town also has a synagogue built in the 18th century. Moreover, Cherasco hosts an important antique market that has been running for over thirty years, reaching its 120th edition in 2022. On this occasion, the center of Cherasco becomes pedestrianized, with hundreds of exhibitors filling the streets lined with baroque buildings, 17th-century churches, and charming squares, attracting a growing number of visitors.
