  • 2 Bathrooms
  • 165 m² Total surface

Description

The very spacious flat is located on the third and last floor of an old building in the centre of the village. On entering, we are greeted by the large bright living room thanks to the large windows with views of the village and the hills. The ceiling is vaulted and an elegant fireplace decorates the room. This is followed by two spacious and very bright bedrooms, a large kitchen with fireplace, a bathroom, a service bathroom and a utility room. The kitchen leads to the particularly interesting part of the property: the turret with terrace. In fact, going up the narrow ancient stairs one has the sensation of taking an even deeper dive into the past: the walls are of ancient stone, the windows are ogee-shaped and the floor is of ancient wood. One would not be surprised to meet a medieval lady or knight intent on conversing beside the ancient window. The last flight of stairs leads to the surprise: the rooftop terrace from which there is an amazing view of the village and the surrounding hills. An ideal place to relax in tranquillity or dine by candlelight surrounded by the stars and the lights of the villages in the hills. The property is completed by a cellar on the ground floor, very bright, spacious and very special with a low corner basin and a well: it could become a small relaxation area with sauna or a pleasant wine tasting room.

Location: Borgomaro, Liguria

Borgomaro, a characteristic medieval village steeped in history, located in the Maro Valley and surrounded by pretty hamlets on the surrounding hills, has been known and renowned since the 14th century for the production and sale of taggiasca olive oil. It is crossed by the Impero torrent, whose water has always provided the still-visible wash houses, oil mills and grain mills, and today flows silvery, forming pretty little lakes. Numerous historical monuments enrich the architectural heritage, mainly baroque churches. Not to be missed is a visit to the Pieve di San Nazario e Celso, a three-nave church with ancient frescoes, located a short distance from the town centre, an enchanted place amidst olive trees, where one can breathe peace and serenity and where concerts and cultural events are often organised. There is no shortage in Borgomaro of accommodation facilities of all levels, and typical restaurants where you can sample menus with local products, such as the much sought-after Conio beans or, at Christmas time, the Pandolce di Borgomaro, made with simple but genuine ingredients. For those who love nature, there is a wide choice of excursions on foot or by bicycle, thanks to the network of excellent trails leading through the valley. Borgomaro is easily reached from the Imperia Est motorway exit. It is about 20 minutes from the sea, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the airports of Genoa and Nice, about 50 minutes from Sanremo and about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Monte Carlo.
