Consumption certificateTorre San Giovanni, a hamlet of Ugento, is a location on the Ionian Sea in a position of honor, equidistant from Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca, with one of the most exotic coastlines in the area. Together with Lido Marini, Torre Mozza and Mare Verde, it makes up the 15 km of predominantly sandy coastline of the municipality of Ugento. On this stretch are the coastal basins; the regional nature park that extends from the sea to the highest part of the hill behind; and, of course, kilometers of highly coveted beaches. The marina has a few hundred inhabitants in the cool phase of the year, but many businesses and restaurants are open year-round. From April the number of inhabitants grows to become one of the busiest centers in the province in summer. It has a harbor mainly occupied by fishing boats and small private boats. There is no shortage of charter, excursion and diving services. Closer inland are Presicce and Acquarica, among the most beautiful villages in Italy, with a dense network of underground oil mills and Baroque-style churches. The municipality of Salve, which includes the marinas of Pescoluse, Torre Vado and Posto Vecchio. Small towns and villages, now known and sought after by many travelers and in all seasons: for the always warm temperature, for the lifestyle, for the genuine food and because in this area the sun is the undisputed protagonist, together with the sea. Yet there is more: Ugento. This town has a very important archaeological museum, with finds that also enrich the collection of the museum in Taranto, such as the Zeus of Ugento. And it has a well-known history in the Messapic era that continually emerges from archaeological activities. A pleasant inland discovery for those who are not satisfied with just so much coastal beauty.
