Description

At Villa Picalò, in Torre San Giovanni, Salento shows off its best. A newly built villa, with fine finishes, furnished with style, on a 10,000-square-meter plot, with an attached trullo, complete with a swimming pool in Caribbean colors, surrounded by a park of green and productive olive trees, 500m from the beaches of Ugento. It is located on the coastal provincial road leading to Santa Maria di Leuca, indented by several meters, in a very strategic and coveted location, without being affected by summer traffic. The prestigious dwelling who is placed in the center of the property, is fenced along the entire perimeter. The outdoor area surrounding the building is fully paved for about 500sqm with many amenities, such as outdoor showers and pergolas. The main dwelling has a large porch that can be converted into a living room overlooking three sides of the garden, kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The secondary dwelling has a kitchen, one bedroom, one bathroom and a south-facing living porch. On the back are two independent rooms with bathrooms, all habitable immediately. The terraces are accessible and equipped. The installations are recent, with heat pump for heating and cooling. It has both a residential vocation, for those who want to enjoy this place all year round, and a tourist vocation, thanks to its ten comfortable and independent beds. Wide outdoor spaces equipped with sunbeds, small tables, armchairs and everything needed to set up the two porches and the poolside make it delightful already to the eye. It does not lack its rural and agricultural vocation, with a productive olive grove that with minimal maintenance guarantees several quintals of olives each year and various ornamental plants that embellish the already very attractive appearance.

Location: Ugento, Apulia

Torre San Giovanni, a hamlet of Ugento, is a location on the Ionian Sea in a position of honor, equidistant from Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca, with one of the most exotic coastlines in the area. Together with Lido Marini, Torre Mozza and Mare Verde, it makes up the 15 km of predominantly sandy coastline of the municipality of Ugento. On this stretch are the coastal basins; the regional nature park that extends from the sea to the highest part of the hill behind; and, of course, kilometers of highly coveted beaches. The marina has a few hundred inhabitants in the cool phase of the year, but many businesses and restaurants are open year-round. From April the number of inhabitants grows to become one of the busiest centers in the province in summer. It has a harbor mainly occupied by fishing boats and small private boats. There is no shortage of charter, excursion and diving services. Closer inland are Presicce and Acquarica, among the most beautiful villages in Italy, with a dense network of underground oil mills and Baroque-style churches. The municipality of Salve, which includes the marinas of Pescoluse, Torre Vado and Posto Vecchio. Small towns and villages, now known and sought after by many travelers and in all seasons: for the always warm temperature, for the lifestyle, for the genuine food and because in this area the sun is the undisputed protagonist, together with the sea. Yet there is more: Ugento. This town has a very important archaeological museum, with finds that also enrich the collection of the museum in Taranto, such as the Zeus of Ugento. And it has a well-known history in the Messapic era that continually emerges from archaeological activities. A pleasant inland discovery for those who are not satisfied with just so much coastal beauty.
