It rises 270 meters above sea level, in the Niceto Valley, on the northern slopes of the Peloritani mountains and is divided into two areas, the mountain hamlet of Pellegrino, lying on Mount Marra, and the hamlet of Monforte Marina, washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The center of the village retains the characteristic appearance of a small fortified medieval town, with walls surrounding the hamlet and narrow streets that climb from Piazza IV Novembre all the way to the centre. All around the town one can admire entire expanses of orange groves, vineyards, olive groves, and the production of the so-called 'sbergia' peach, a prized fruit typical of the Niceto hinterland, is also remarkable. Monforte is only 19 km from Milazzo, and 32 km from Messina. By car, it is possible to reach the municipality of Monforte by taking the A20 Messina-Palermo motorway and then the strada statale 113 Settentrionale Sicula in the Marina district and the strada provinciale n. 60 from Torregrotta to Monforte San Giorgio in the Pellegrino district. The town can also be reached by train, the nearest station being Scala Torregrotta. The nearest airport is Reggio Calabria, which is about 32 km from Monforte San Giorgio.
