Here you can admire stalls with various typical local products that envelop the visitor in an atmosphere that is far from the cold modernity of today. The island of Ortigia is connected to the city by the Santa Lucia and Umbertino bridges, which lead directly to the island's main car park: the Talete car park, located at the beginning of the Lungomare di Levante, also in the Graziella district opposite the building. From here, you cross the Antico Mercato, a culinary destination for thousands of tourists with its street food stalls. At the end of it you can admire the 6th century BC Temple of Apollo, from where you can see the island's two main shopping streets: Corso Matteotti, which leads to Piazza Archimede, Via Roma and Via Cavour filled with shops and restaurants, leading to Piazza Duomo. Close by you can admire the popular Arethusa Fountain, a water basin in the oldest part of the Sicilian city and one of Syracuse's most beautiful monuments. The flat overlooks the Lungomare di Levante, very close to one of the platforms where you can spend pleasant days ‘by the sea’ without leaving the city. The flat is also just a few hundred metres from the small free beach of Calarossa, where you can take a break to enjoy the coolness or the shade of the Friderician walls. A few metres further on you will reach Maniace Castle (from the Swabian-Norman period), the extreme tip of the island of Ortigia and the crossroads between the eastern and western seas. The train station is only 1.5 km away, as are the motorway links to Catania airport.
