Just 4 km away is the beautiful medieval town of Barberino Val d'Elsa, while just 6 km away is the town of Poggibonsi and the highway connecting Florence and Siena. In front of the building stands a beautiful church, the first evidence of which dates back to 1123. Shortly afterwards, following the Battle of Montaperti, the church and the village of Pastine were sacked by Ghibelline troops roaming the Valdelsa. From 1548 onwards, the church was under the patronage of the Serragli family, whose coat of arms still appears on the façade.
