Description

Just a few steps from the Adriatic Sea, where the Tramontana wind whispers through the dunes and Mediterranean shrubs, stands a dwelling that seems to blend perfectly with its natural surroundings. Just 300 metres from the coast of Salento, this property is an oasis of peace and serenity, immersed in greenery and embraced by the scent of saltiness. The property is located in a quiet residential setting and invites anyone who enters to be lulled by the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape. In the centre of this green haven, an imposing Ficus Elastica stands, creating a cool shelter of shade, perfect for escaping the intense heat of summer afternoons. On the facade of the house, a majestic Bougainvillea climbs gracefully, enveloping the structure in a riot of bright colours. Every plant, every corner of greenery has been arranged with care and skill, transforming the garden into a living work of art. The flowerbeds are home to prickly pears with rustic charm, bringing with them the essence of the Mediterranean, while a rosemary hedge wraps around the pergola with its light steel structure, used as a parking space, creating a perfect combination of beauty and functionality. The architecture of the cottage itself tells a story of tradition and modernity coming together. The dry-stone walls blend harmoniously with contemporary elements, such as the wrought-iron gates and the steel pergola, creating an ensemble that is both rustic and sophisticated. The ‘chianche stone’ paving runs through the outdoor space, giving it a simple and timeless elegance. The exterior spaces are pleasantly lit to create a cosy atmosphere and ensure good visibility at night. Inside, the property welcomes with a large shaded veranda, a natural refuge for relaxing moments outdoors. From here one can access the interior rooms: an entrance hall, three double bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen that opens directly onto the garden. Each room is equipped with ceiling fans, ideal for keeping cool during hot summer days, while the entire building is served by electricity, gas with cylinders and connection to the aqueduct. There is a private well that is currently disconnected. The exterior is as practical as it is charming. An outdoor shower, perfect after a day at the beach, and a second outdoor kitchen provide everything you need for al fresco dining. A laundry/storage room with a service bathroom completes the outdoor space, while a stone staircase connects the lower part of the property to the solar pavement, from which one can enjoy panoramic views.

Location: Torre Chianca, Apulia

Torre Chianca is a coastal resort located in Salento, Puglia, just 15 km from the city of Lecce and 50 km from Brindisi Airport. The area takes its name from one of the many coastal towers built in the 16th century by the Spanish to defend the territory from pirate raids. Torre Chianca is known for its long beaches of fine white sand, washed by the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. The sea is shallow and safe, ideal for families with children. The sand dunes that line the beach are covered with typical Mediterranean vegetation, with shrubs and plants resistant to salt. Nearby is the ‘Parco Naturale Regionale Bosco e Paludi di Rauccio’, a protected nature reserve that includes a variety of environments, such as forests, marshes, and wetlands. This park is an important birdwatching area, as it is home to numerous species of migratory birds. Also part of the Rancio Park is the Torre Chianca Basin, a natural lagoon formed by the interaction between the sea and fresh water from canals and underground springs. The coastal tower, from which the locality takes its name, is a historical sighting and defence structure dating back to the period of the Turkish invasions in the 16th century. Although today the tower is in ruins, it remains a symbol of the Salento coast's defensive history. Torre Chianca offers a variety of outdoor activities, mainly related to the sea, such as swimming, snorkelling, and kitesurfing, thanks to the climatic conditions and the lay of the land. In addition, the area is well served by bathing establishments, bars and restaurants offering typical Salento cuisine, especially fresh fish. Torre Chianca is easily reached from Lecce by car, and is a popular summer destination for tourists and locals alike. During the summer, the area comes alive with events and manifestations related to the Salento tradition, such as pizzica concerts and gastronomic festivals.
