Gas heatingSan Giovanni al Natisone is located in the eastern plains of Friuli Venezia Giulia, at the foot of the first slopes of the Collio. In existence since Roman times, during the barbarian invasions San Giovanni al Natisone was the scene of clashes between the Lombard Duke Gisulfo and sparse populations. In patriarchal times the village, donated by the Patriarch Henry Abbey Rosazzo, followed the events of the Counts of Gorizia. In 1348 an earthquake destroyed San Giovanni and decimated the population. In 1523 the country came under Austrian rule and remained there until 1866. Worthy of note are two Villas: Trento Villa in Dolegnano and Villa Brandis, with a large park, rich furniture, and the interior boats a library with 7000 volumes and a picture gallery with paintings from the fourteenth to the twentieth century.
