Decentral heatingFerrere is a municipality of about 1,600 inhabitants 30 minutes from Asti and Alba and 50 minutes from Turin airport. The name Ferraria, the ancient name for Ferrere, appears for the first time in a document from 1034 AD. For several centuries, the feud belonged to the Garretti lords, who built a first castle there, which was then half-destroyed and rebuilt higher up: the Castelvecchio, thus named from its origins. Ferrere is renowned for its honey fair, which is held in October and reached its 11th edition in 2024. During the fair there is the traditional prize-giving ceremony linked to the regional competition open to all strictly Piedmontese producers, by single type of honey.
