Badia Petroia's history dates back to 1050 AD and has retained its original character over the years. With around 60 inhabitants, the village still exudes the atmosphere of days gone by. On warm summer evenings, residents gather on the village square to chat and barbecue. There is no shortage of nature and culture. Lovers of good food and wine will find what they are looking for here. The surrounding hills are ideal for beautiful nature walks. Badia Petroia is also known for its Romanesque Benedictine abbey from the 10th century. Important cities such as Città di Castello (famous for its white truffles and the cathedral of Florido and Amanzio) and Arezzo (with its antique market and many filming locations for La Vita è Bella) can be reached in less than an hour. These cities also offer numerous shopping and entertaining opportunities. Florence airport is an hour and a half away, Perugia airport 50 minutes. Rome can be reached in about three hours. Arezzo and Città di Castello have good train connections. Perugia can be reached in 45 minutes and Assisi in an hour. From here, there are also excellent connections to the E45 motorway towards Bologna and Perugia (10 minutes away) or to the A1 motorway towards Florence and Rome (45 minutes away).
