Consumption certificateIn eighteenth-century Piedmont, the production of silk yarn was an excellence. Silkworm breeding was widespread, especially in the Cuneo countryside, rich in mulberry trees; the product was processed in spinning mills. From the first Filatoio di Caraglio, silk factories in the area reached a total of 33 spinning mills during the 18th century, including the one in Pianfei. Once silk production ceased, the latter was adapted from an industrial to an agricultural building in 1823, keeping intact the large portico used to stretch the yarns and transforming the interior into stables and barns. After about a century and a half, the current owners have given new life to the historic building, which, through a radical and accurate restoration, now appears as a prestigious country house, full of ancient charm and contemporary comfort. Pianfei is a picturesque municipality located in the province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region. This quiet village is located about 13 kilometres from Cuneo, easily reached by car in less than 20 minutes. The nearest airport is Cuneo Levaldigi, located about 30 kilometres away, offering national and international connections. For those who want a seaside getaway, the coasts of Liguria, such as Savona, are about 80 kilometres away and can be reached in about one and a half hours. Pianfei combines the tranquillity of village life with the convenience of being well connected to the region's main infrastructure.
