Just a 20-minute drive from Lecce, Torre Specchia Ruggeri and Torre Sant'Andrea are the two extremes of the seaside town of Melendugno. Almost 15 kilometers of coastline that also includes the marinas of Roca, San Foca and Torre dell'Orso known for their wonderful crystal clear sea where you can also find a system of natural caves. Among the best known is the famous "Grotta della Poesia," a destination for Italian and foreign tourists. Torre dell'Orso is in fact a village well known for the large summer attendance, with its panoramic bay and the beautiful beach in front of which you can admire "le due sorelle" two rocks very similar in shape placed next to each other. The coast is rocky, layered and in places, high and scenic in an alternation of sandy beaches often equipped with organized lidos. The coastal provincial road crosses the Adriatic coast of Salento from San Cataldo to Otranto in a continuous alternation of Mediterranean scrub, beaches and small towns that are very active during the summer but also frequented in winter by sportsmen, runners, cyclists and walkers who, taking advantage of the low car traffic, enjoy the beauty of the seascape and the Cesine reserve. Historically, the first inhabited settlement is represented by Roca Vecchia. The site,frequented since prehistoric times, was born as a fortified town. During the winter the population dwindles, but in just 10 minutes you can reach the town of Melendugno and in a little more the city of Lecce.
