Until 1873, the district of Albaro was an autonomous municipality that was annexed to the Municipality of Genoa only after that date. Since 1500, Albaro was a favourite location for prestigious and exclusive country residences. Over time, the district has maintained its ‘elitist’ character, especially along certain routes such as Via Parini or Via San Nazaro, which reveal unexpected places and wonderfully surprising architecture to the visitor.
