The hill of Castel Montecchio is an exclusive residential area, atop which stands what was once a medieval fortress. Around 1450, it was converted into a monastery of the Servite Fathers and later transformed in the 18th century into a luxurious patrician villa by the architect Leopold Pollack. The town of Credaro is located in Val Calepio, one of the most renowned wine regions in the province of Bergamo. The name derives from the Greek "Kalos-Epias," which indicates a "good and sweet" land, where the climate is particularly mild, thanks also to the proximity of the lake.
