According to tradition, the word Valeggio could mean "flat place", but also "valley of the gods". If the gods really did choose it as their home, they had good taste. Valeggio is 27 kilometres from Verona and is crossed by the River Mincio, the main outlet of Lake Garda, whose moraine hills form the northern border, while to the south it borders the territory of Mantua.
