Decentral heatingSala Monferrato is located in the heart of the Monferrato wine landscape, classified in 2014 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its historical and landscape uniqueness together with those of Langhe and Roero. The town is located in a panoramic position on a hilltop, and, over the centuries, it developed around the oldest Lombard core of the castle. According to the structure of the shelter, this was the medieval grouping of houses defended by turreted walls in which the inhabitants of the countryside gathered in case of danger. The economy of the municipality is mainly based on viticulture and winemaking, in particular on the production of Barbera, Grignolino, Freisa, Cortese and Malvasia as per the characteristics of the territory. Six are the producers on site, and their wineries are open to Eno-tasting. Wine and local products, such as, among other things, the artisanal production of Muletta Monferrina, the typical fine salami of the territory, are leading to the growing interest in the village on the food and wine tourism front. This is accompanied by an agricultural activity increasingly based on sustainability guidelines, thanks to the progressive limitation of chemical herbicides and phytosanitary treatments. Thanks to its beauty and tranquility, in recent decades Sala Monferrato has been chosen as a residence by artists from the world of painting and music. In this context it is worth visiting the "Casa Ricordi". It was inaugurated on 28 October 2017 and is the only museum space in the world dedicated to Nanni Ricordi, the so-called “inventor of songwriters". Sala Monferrato is located about an hour's drive from Milan, Turin, and Genoa and a few kilometers from Casale Monferrato, where you can access all the main services.
