The buildings of the historic center of Tuscania are characterized by a reddish-brown color which indicates their materials composed of tuff rock. The main street that runs through the village is Via Libertà which leads to the Torre di Lavello Park, a wonderful and panoramic public park adjacent to the ancient city walls which contains a sundial and a small amphitheater. On an ideal walk you are surrounded by a fairy-tale landscape and the hill of San Pietro. In Tuscania you can admire ancient churches, such as Santa Maria Maggiore, and fountains such as that of the Sette Cannelle, the oldest in the city, a trace of the Etruscan-Roman period. History merges in the Baronial Palace built in tuff stone with portals and ogival doors around 1200, right around the central streets of the town. Typical is the Via dei Priori where it was possible to contemplate the artisans at work according to the ancient terracotta processing techniques for the production of ceramics, an ancient and typical art here in Tuscania. But Tuscania is also a famous city in Italy, for its wonderful lavender fields, for the water with the nearby spa resorts and for the friendliness of those who live there and celebrate it with many events from May to September.
