Cesenatico: Location and surroundings of this property

Viale Leonardo da Vinci and Via Roma, the two main axes of the centre of Cesenatico, intersect in Piazza Comandini, which is overlooked by the building in which the flat for sale is located. The city has ancient origins and commercial activities have always been characterised by the centrality of the important canal port. In its innermost section it still traces the lines drawn in 1502 by Leonardo Da Vinci, who was called upon by Cesare Borgia to suggest improvements to the pre-existing harbour. Monuments and places of interest still stand along the harbour: Piazza Pisacane with its monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi and his solemn inscription; the 19th-century fish market, behind which is the Piazzetta delle Erbe and then the Piazzetta delle Conserve; Piazza Ciceruacchio, where the perimeter of the ancient Torre Pretoria, which once defended the harbour from the incursions of Barbary pirates, is traced; the remains of the original docks with their pilings. In the most recent section, near the lighthouse, the imposing Vinci gates now defend the town from storm surges: an achievement of modern technology carried out following the example of Leonardo's designs. The innermost section of the Canal Harbour houses the 'Floating Maritime Museum'. As the focal point of the town, many events take place here: gastronomic festivals and fairs, the 'Cuccagna dell'Adriatico' (Cockaigne of the Adriatic), and the Marineria Crib during the Christmas festivities.

Commission Details

The property brokerage engagement with “FCF real estate srl.” (an affiliate of Engel & Völkers Italia S.r.l.) and/or use of the services listed in our brochure or the property for sale on our property cards are governed by a specific agreement and pertinent clauses.
