Besano: Location and surroundings of this property

The municipality of Besano is a very quiet residential area near the shores of Lake Ceresio, also known as Lake Lugano. The etymological origin of the name is unclear: some attribute it to the fact that in ancient times a renowned fair was held in the area twice a year, thus the town was named "Bis-in-anno" (twice a year), while some historians derive it from the Celto-Ligurian root "Bes," meaning wooded hill. A walk from the center of the municipality, without any particular difficulty, allows one to reach the Colle di S. Martino, which overlooks the town and offers a panoramic view of the entire Valceresio, Lake Ceresio, and the Varese and Swiss Pre-Alps. The municipality offers public services such as a gym and municipal library, as well as primary and secondary schools. The Porto Ceresio train station, just 5 minutes from the center of Besano, connects the provincial capital, Varese, in a 20-minute journey, while the regional capital, Milan, is accessible in 1 hour and 13 minutes.
