Description
The Coffee House, an 18th-century building located in the Parco Massari ex-Bevilacqua in Ferrara, is a place steeped in history and secrets. Designed by architect Luigi Langhi and constructed in 1780, this building was a gathering spot for the city's nobility and intellectuals. Over the centuries, the building has undergone various transformations and changes in ownership. Its history is filled with notable figures, such as Marquis Camillo Bevilacqua Cantelli, who acquired it from the Prosperi Counts. The building has been immortalized in works of art, including an 1800 view by Bolzoni, which shows it with a flat roof and statues on top. In 1850, Giuseppe Chittò created an oil sketch on parchment depicting the Coffee House’s façade along with the rest of the city. Its historical and artistic significance was recognized by the Monuments Office, which declared it a national monument in 1922. Today, the façade of the Coffee House stands as a testament to 18th-century Ferrarese architecture, featuring tall rectangular windows flanked by fluted pilasters, supported by two corbels with a triglyph and an overlying medallion with a four-petal flower. The Istrian stone base runs along the entire façade, creating a captivating and historic environment. The Villa: A Luxurious Haven The villa, structured on four levels, is a paradise of luxury and comfort. Its sumptuous architecture and tasteful furnishings create an elegant and refined atmosphere: reception rooms illuminated by arched windows and decorated with historical frescoes, spacious bedrooms, tastefully appointed bathrooms, a private garden, a terrace, and a balcony with a splendid view of the surrounding Parco Massari. The property also includes a large basement with a garage for 3-4 cars. (The information and floor plans provided are indicative and do not constitute contractual elements).
