Description
Built in the 13th century during Norman domination, the Royal Palace was the summer residence of the Aragonese court of Palermo and a strategic location because of its proximity to the two coasts. Located in the historic district of San Martino, in ancient times the Gothic-style palace was much larger and occupied three blocks; the 1693 earthquake and subsequent wars caused the collapse of the third floor and numerous alterations to the original structure, and today, only an adjacent portion of the old part can be admired. The property covers an area of about eight hundred square meters on two levels and is divided into five autonomous and independent apartments with garages, an old cellar and workshops on the ground floor. The main entrance to the building is from the central Via Umberto I, the main artery of the historic center of Randazzo, full of stores, crafts and religious architecture, but the property enjoys other entrances, from Via dei Vagliasindi and Via Volta Scala. From the main entrance, a sumptuous marble staircase leads to the main floor where the first unit is developed, an elegant apartment of 300 sqm finely renovated, decorated with vaults, fine parquet floors and top-quality finishes that guarantee every comfort. On the same floor is developed the second apartment of about 80 square meters, consisting of a bedroom, kitchen, a living room overlooking Via Umberto I and a bathroom. The third apartment is located on the mezzanine floor of the building and enjoys two independent entrances, from Via Umberto I and Via Volta Scala. It consists of two large living rooms, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The other two units need renovation and also enjoy independent accesses. The property has autonomous methane heating and a reserve water tank.
