In the proximity of the city of Arezzo we offer for sale a property of great historical value. Former castle built on the remains of Romanesque Villa, residence of the Roman proconsul Lucius Metellus. When the Romanesque villa was destroyed, the medieval castle was built there, a fortress with five towers, three of which were inhabited and two still exist. Known records affirm the stay in the castle of Federico Barbarossa, famous emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Later the property belonged to the Counts Ugolini Albergotti until the late 1960s. The current owners have completely restored the property, making it even today a very impressive property. Positioned on the hill overlooking the village in which it is located, the property can be reached by two entrances, both pedestrian, walking through the vestibule of the castle on one side, and by a driveway that runs along the original castle walls on the other. The outdoor part, with a beautiful garden of about 2000 sqm with an 8x3 m above-ground pool, all enclosed by the original walls of the fort, houses part of the castle fortification including the walls and the watchtower with the original crossbow loopholes. On the ground floor we find a large resede with wooden canopy and access for the technical room and laundry-dispensary. From the resede we access the entrance to the kitchen, four steps lead to the living room with air fireplace that being "double-faced", we also find in the adjacent master bedroom, downstairs another double bedroom; from the hallway in front of the living room we reach the bathroom and the other bedroom with panoramic balcony on the surrounding hills. Extension work is underway to create an additional double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The last renovation was in 2002. The floors are made of handmade bricks and wood. Wooden beams and terracotta tiles characterize the ceilings. The steps are all in pietra serena, and there are some parts of original stone walls from medieval fortifications. There is a photovoltaic and solar thermal system. In the lower part of the property we find a large resede for parking spaces and an annex/garage of about 35 sqm. The property also includes a part of forest for 3200 sqm.
