Locarno: Location and surroundings of this property

Locarno is located on the southern side of the Alps, on Lake Maggiore, also called Verbano. The hill district Monti della Ss. Trinità, at about 400 m/M, enjoys very special conditions: in fact, it is fresher and breezier here in summer and warmer in winter. In earlier times, the hill belonged to the burghers of Locarno, who spent the summer season here. The cultivation of the land was mainly entrusted to sharecroppers from the Verzasca Valley. The philosophical movement whose proponents later settled on Monte Verità had its origins in Monti della Trinità.
