It’s purely agricultural in nature and its origin seems to date back to before the year 1000. Suggestive is the historic center of the village, typically Cilento and the proximity to Rocca Cilento where stands the Norman Castle of the thirteenth century, rebuilt during the rule of the Sanseverino. The town is characterized by a historic center rich in medieval monuments, such as Palazzo Lombardi, Palazzo Magnoni, Palazzo Miglino, Palazzo Cuoco with the Dovecote in front and the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, protector of the Rutinese community.
