The counts created a small autonomous state which enjoyed privileges until the end of the 16th century, also obtaining the right to mint coins. The richness of the medieval period relives every year in September with the reenactment of the Medieval Fair and the Palio degli Asini. Renowned food and wine center, it offers tasty traditional Piedmontese recipes. Typical products are Cocconato robiola cheese and raw ham. We remember the excellent red wines, such as Barbera, Barbera d’Asti and Freisa. The Cocco Wine event is dedicated to local wines every year on the first weekend of September with the presence of the best producers in the area
