221.55 kWh/m²aOggiogno is located 530 meters above sea level, just above Cannero and is reached by a paved road of about 4 km of twists and turns (SP 134 of Oggiogno). It is located in an enviable position, like a balcony overlooking Lake Maggiore. The village currently has about 20 inhabitants, while in summer, or for religious festivals, it reaches 150-200 people who come from the nearby provinces of Novara, Varese, Como, Milan, and even Germany, France, and England. The history of Oggiogno starts from "Novara anno 985" the first document that speaks of Cannero Riviera and Oggiogno, bringing them out of the silence of centuries; this document recorded the donation by the Bishop of Novara Aupaldo to the College of Canons of the Novara Cathedral of the small court called Canore (Cannero), together with the villa called Oglon (Oggiogno) with the pertinent olive groves, lands, fields, vineyards, meadows, waters, fishponds and the families that lived there. Interesting to visit is the centuries-old wine press from 1742 consisting of a huge chestnut tree into which a giant wooden screw was inserted to raise and lower the "chestnut tree" in order to crush grapes and make must from them. It is no longer in use now for obvious reasons, but was restored in August 2006.
