History of the house Before the nationalization, the Balassa house was part of the large Balassa estate. The house was built in romantic style by the goldsmith Salamon Politzer in 1858-59. In terms of its function, it was a merchant-bourgeois house, where the law office of Bak Soma and then Lajos Pollák operated in the early 1950s.
