Location: The community of Afandou is the centre of the municipality of the same name which also includes Kolymbia and Archipoli. Unique features: The village architecture conforms to typical village style and is named Afandou (which means ‘invisible’) as the actual village could not be seen from the sea by pirates who constantly raided the coasts in the Middle Ages. The beach of Afandou is made up of tiny pebbles with crystal clear waters and is long enough for plenty of privacy. The 18 hole golf course of Afandou, designed by British golf course architect, Donald Harradine, can also be found here. Accessibility: A regular bus service and a 30 minute drive from Rhodes town.
