Spata is a town of Eastern Attica and was the administrative center of the former municipality of Spata-Artemida. It is located in the center of the Mediterranean plain and built on a hill. Administratively it is under the Prefecture of Eastern Attica. With the Kallikratis Project, Spata became the center of the new Municipality of Spata - Artemis.
The administrative boundaries of the municipality extend 20 kilometers east of Athens, from the mountainous ends of Ymittos and Penteli, to the Gulf of Petalia. It is surrounded by the towns of Paania, Pallini, Pikermi, Rafina, Artemida and Markopoulo. Within its administrative boundaries, many scattered villages develop where local cultural associations are established that contribute to their development and promotion. Some of them are Christoupolis, Agia Kyriaki and many others.
The climate in Spata is quite dry with fairly strong winds. Some humidity is also expected through the year. Due to its geographical location the heat in summer is bearable due to the winds.
