ZentralheizungLEFKES: It is the most mountainous village of Paros and perhaps one of the most picturesque villages of the island. It is located at an altitude of 250 metres above the sea level and in fact this is the reason that makes it afford stunning, panoramic views overlooking both the crystal-clear Aegean Sea waters and the Parian landscape. It is only ten kilometres away from Paroikia, the capital town of the island. Its name derives from the abundance of the homonymous trees; the poplars (in Greek «Lefkes»). Further to the geophysical beauty of the region, this quaint village is a virtual museum of the Greek folk art, since it is adorned by many Greek Orthodox churches and chapels, by several traditional windmills of Paros and by a picturesque pottery workshop. The main street, which leads to the centre of the village, is a real work of art, since it is masterfully paved and whitewashed. It is called «Rhamnos», from the homonymous tree (in English «Buckthorn» or «Ramnus Alaternus») that used to dominate along the road.
