Dionysos is located in NE Attica, in the first hills of the Penteliko Mountain, in a region with lush green surroundings, offering a totally unique and particular quality of life to its residents. It has a purely built-up character, with the presence of certain well-known cafes and restaurants in the wider region giving a cosmopolitan breeze in an admittedly very nice suburb. The settlement of Dionysos was created at the end of the 19th century, as a place of stay for the quarry workers that worked in the neighboring marble quarries of the Penteliko Mountain. It was named after the ancient temple of Dionysos, the ruins of which are found there. Via Dionysos Avenue it communicates easily with the nearby commercial centres of Drossia, Nea Erythrea and Kifissia as well as with the eastern coastal municipalities of Marathon and Nea Makri.
