Ilioupoli is a suburban municipality 6 km southeast of Athens city center which lies at the western foot of the forested Hymettus mountain and north of Vouliagmenis Avenue.

It is a residential area with mainly low rise buildings with private gardens and wide streets full of green with an uncommon street plan characterized by 5 sets of concentric circular streets.
