Nea Makri is an area of northeastern Attica and belongs to the municipality of Marathon. It is bordered to the north by the historic city of Marathon, to the south by Rafina, to the west with the Pendeli Mountain and Dionysos and is bordered by the South Evian Gulf on a coastline of about 14 km. It is 32 km away from the centre of Athens, which can be reached via Attica road or via Messogion Avenue. Its permanent population is about 14,000 inhabitants and in summer it exceeds 55,000 to 60,000, as it has several permanent holidaymakers with holiday homes. It has beautiful and clean beaches and is located 10 minutes away from the long, sandy beach of Schinias.
