Get to know Oliver

What’s your name and where are you from?

I was born in Pritzwalk, a small town in Brandenburg in the middle between Hamburg and Berlin, but have been living in Hamburg for 5 years now.

What do you do at E&V Technology?

I am a junior software engineer and I am currently working on the implementation and release of the first version of the real estate search app for Android.

What are some of the challenges you have faced so far?

Get to know the Android and source code of the project and understand why some things are the way they are. But because of the helpful colleagues, most challenges can be mastered quickly.

My typical day at E&V includes...

...starts every morning with a short team meeting to talk about progress and news of the last day. After that I work on open bugs or new features. Around midday there is usually a small developer stand-up for the exchange with the other developers. Lunch is served immediately afterwards, followed by all the tasks and meetings that still have to be completed for the day.

What technology are you most excited about working with next?

The Android Architecture Components such as Room, LiveData and ViewModel would greatly enrich our project. I'd also like to take a closer look at Kotlin.

What was a great surprising thing you discovered after joining E&V?

The familiar atmosphere and helpful colleagues ensure that you feel completely comfortable and can work very efficiently. Besides, you should be in the office early so you don't have to look for a place ;)

I like my coffee…

...not at all. I'd rather have the devil's stuff drunk by my colleagues. Give me a sugar-free Coke and I'll be happy.
