What’s your name and where are you from?

My name is Christian Roggia and I am from South Tyrol, Italy.

What do you do at E&V Technology?

I am a Backend Software Engineer and I am currently working on the synchronization of legacy data sources and our Master Data project.

What are some of the challenges you have faced so far?

The biggest challenge I had to face so far was the synchronization of our Active Directory. Unfortunately very old data sources tend to become a mess and the lack of a standard structure and all the manual intervention did not help. But we have been able to solve all the issues we encountered so far.

My typical day at E&V includes..

The first challenge of the day is always to find a free desk in the big part of our office, maybe I should wake up earlier.. Anyway after I find my place I launch Ubuntu and start coding, I spend a good part of my working day going from one coworker to the next one for a little chat or because we need to discuss issues. This generally happens when I am waiting for the deployment of my service.

What technology are you most excited about working with next?

I am excited about using Kubernetes a little more: since I went to the KubeCon there are many tools I would like to try. I am also looking forward to Machine Learning and Blockchain technologies.

What was a great surprising thing you discovered after joining E&V? 

This is my first job in a big company and I am really surprised of how friendly people are around here, I never had an argument with anybody and everyone is respectful and available.

I like my coffee …?

I never drink coffee, if I need to stay focused or if a long night awaits me I always buy energy drinks beforehand, but that doesn’t happen often.
