Arizzano is a small town of nearly 2,000 inhabitants located along the Via Nuova Intra - Premeno, a road artery connecting Verbania and Lake Maggiore to the mountain town of Premeno. Situated at an altitude of about 500 m above sea level and kissed by the sun, this small municipality can be described as a balcony on Lake Maggiore thanks to the breathtaking panoramic view in which the green mountains embrace the crystal-clear waters of the Lake and the iconic places of the area such as the Borromean Islands and the heights of Stresa, the Lombard shore around Laveno, and the tip of the Castagnola in Verbania.
Rising in the early 12th century, the village of Ariciano followed the changes in the medieval history of Lake Maggiore, passing periodically under the rule of the Milanese Visconti and Borromeo families and then under the wise administrative control of the Moriggia di Frino family until it became an autonomous municipality around 1723.
In the center of the village it is possible to visit the Parish Church of San Bernardo, a late Baroque church built in the 17th century on the remains of an old oratory that houses a wild marble sink but above all beautiful mosaics of modern workmanship that cover its interior walls and floor.
Placed in the square of the former municipal building, we then find the monumental mosaic entitled Arizzano created by Walter Ferrarini with fine materials such as Venetian enamels and golds. Divided into pictures, the mosaic depicts the history of Arizzano through real and symbolic images.
In the Mulini area, bordering the municipalities of Bee and Ghiffa, hiking enthusiasts can take the path called “Little Tibet” and reach after an energizing ascent the famous Buddhist Albagnano Meditation Healing Center or follow the road to Ghiffa and then venture into the paths that start from the hamlet of Caronio and arrive at the Unesco heritage area of Sacro Monte della Trinità.
Thanks to its excellent sun exposure, the presence of essential services, such as the post office, schools and small craft activities, and its strategic location to reach Verbania and all the services in town in 5 minutes by car, over the years Arizzano has become a particularly desirable residential location for those who wish to find a corner of peace kissed by the sun from which to contemplate the crystal clear waters of Lake Maggiore just minutes from the conveniences of downtown Verbania.
