This quiet village lies at the entrance to the South Tyrolean Val Pusteria and has been a market town since the early 1269. The ancient walls, manor houses and town houses are clear evidence of this. The municipal area, which also includes the villages of Meranza, Valles and Spinga, stretches from 695 to 3,132 metres above sea level and has a population of around 2,960. Rio di Pusteria is conveniently located between the towns of Bressanone (10 km) and Brunico (24 km). The distance to the Brenner motorway (A22) is only 4 km, the airports of Bolzano (50 km), Innsbruck (80 km) and Munich (275 km) are therefore within easy reach. Despite its manageable size, Rio di Pusteria offers everything you need for everyday life. Family doctor, pharmacy, post office, kindergarden, primary school, hairdresser, bank, car repair shop, supermarket, bars, restaurants etc. are located directly in the village centre. Not to forget about the Rio di Pusteria-Meranza ropeway connection, which is just at 100 metres distance from the "Residence Paradeis". In winter, the nearby ski areas of Gitschberg and Jochtal offer state-of-the-art lifts with a total of 55 kilometres of slopes, a variety of trails for cross-country skiers and four different sledge tracks. In the summer months, Rio di Pusteria is an ideal starting point for wonderful hiking adventures and excursions such as the "Fane Alm" alpine village and the idyllic Altfass Valley.
