Authentic City Palace right in the center

For this unique building we take you back in time to the 1500s, when the first house Happaert was built. Over the centuries, several cottages were added and then merged. The place has always been a home base for mayors, knights, nobility, professors... The last resident was also a creative and artistic man, he is the basis for applying the last details that make the building even more unique. From a listed room, to Delft blue accents to original wells and large vaulted cellars… you will imagine yourself in this and really in a castle in the middle of the city center. The facade does not reveal much at first sight, but behind the stately door a spectacle of wooden elements, paintings, stained glass windows… The entrance hall has a spacious cloakroom with sanitary areas and an extra office space. You walk along this to the heart of the house, still decorated with an original herringbone parquet and completely bathed in light by a skylight that has been restored in detail. Rich woodwork hides a warm sitting area with an authentic fireplace. Furthermore, this room serves as a central reception point for the 3 other meeting/dining rooms, one of which still has original wall paintings from the 17th century. Adjacent to this room you will find a service hall that leads to the kitchen, the cellars, an extra entrance and many more authentic eye-catchers to view during a visit. The ground floor also offers a terrace room with a view of the inner garden, where you can read in peace with a view of greenery. The garden with terrace is, just like the house, perfectly maintained.
