Between the Peninsula of Tróia and Sines there are more than 70km of white sand, calm and transparent sea that make the Alentejo coast one of the most attractive beach tourist destinations in Europe. Her beauty speaks for itself and with the publicity made by the International social media their demand has become even higher. The Guardian, Telegraph, New York Times, Forbes and so many others international publications have already talked about this little special corner by the sea with so much to explore.
Much of this territory is still wild, almost unexplored and allows the most adventurous to look for idyllic landscapes that almost seem taken from a postcard. It’s still possible to feel like a real wild beach, just us and the natural surroundings. But it is also possible to be on a beach under professional concession with a series of benefits at our disposal, pleasant shadows, beach bars with delicious drinks and dishes or… enjoy a sunset with good music and a lot of conviviality.
At this moment the Alentejo coast is a destination for all tastes and increasingly sought after. Whether for those seeking a destination of luxury and exclusivity or for those who just want to enjoy a pleasant day at the beach. But there is always one but: about 70km between Tróia and Sines and at the moment there are only 13 beach concessions granted, which translates into only 13 beaches available with lifeguard, bar, restaurants, parking, support and easy access.
It is true that much of the territory that makes up the Alentejo Coast is a nature reserve or is part of protected areas, but it is not so much more damaging to this territory that we want to protect and preserve new wild paths and footpaths of motor vehicles to reach isolated areas, away from crowds, but also away from the comfort and safety of the concession areas. This is one of the points that both the local population and those who have a second home are questioning, why not open new beach concessions, new access to beaches with conditions for all, never questioning sustainable development or the exclusivity of this unique corner of Europe.
Much has been speculated on this subject for many years, especially since the boom of tourism development began. Affected by financial crises, many of the tourism projects have come to a standstill, but it is now estimated that many of them will develop again, as they have been reacquired by new groups of investors, just like ADT3 by the Vanguard Properties – JNcQUOI partnership, Herdade do Pinheirinho by the VIC Properties and the Herdade da CostaTerra by Discovery Land, they will have access and concessions reserved just for clients.
Therefore, for all those who seek the Alentejo Coast to have quality access to beaches under concession, it is essential and urgent that the authorities get together and develop a long-term strategic plan for new beach concessions in the municipalities of the Alentejo Coast, more adapted to the increasingly present ecological awareness and protection of the environment. Allowing to combine the preservation with a quality and high standard tourism.
Dreaming, with our fingers on the keyboard,…. In average we have almost 6 km in between beaches, if was possible to duplicate, always maintaining the quality and exclusivity of Comporta Café, Sal, O Dinis, Ilha do Arroz, and the future “Sublime Beach”, our touristic Coast will be transform in a worldwide reference!!!
