The Engel & Völkers Residential Property Shop in Port d’Andratx is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and reports a successful financial year. “The consistently strong performance and top transactions of the Shop in Port d’Andratx play a key role in securing our position as market leader on Majorca. It is one of the ten most successful offices in the entire Engel & Völkers Group worldwide,” says Sven Odia, CEO of Engel & Völkers AG. In 1999, he acquired the very first licence for an Engel & Völkers Shop outside of Germany, on the Balearic Island, thereby laying the foundation stone for the current successful operations in Port d’Andratx. “The number of property sales here has almost tripled in the last seven years. In 2018, the average price for villas in Port d’Andratx levelled off at 4.5 million euros, making this port town one of the highest-priced locations on the island,” says Hans Lenz, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Majorca Southwest. Together with his team of experienced and multilingual real estate agents, he secured the highest sales price at Engel & Völkers on Majorca in 2018: an estate sold for 30 million euros. This sale marks the continuation of a series of transactions in which the Residential Property Shop consistently achieves top prices of this kind in Port d’Andratx, year on year.
The exclusive port town in the southwest of Majorca is known as a magnet for the international jet set and a sought-after place of residence for a particularly upmarket clientele. Property owners are drawn by the unique location of the bay, set against the backdrop of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, along with the authentic flair of the fishing port and its various restaurants, shops and boutiques. The majority of buyers in Port d’Andratx come from Germany (61 percent), followed by the UK (24 percent), Spain (7 percent) and Switzerland (2 percent). In this coastal region, clients are looking primarily for high-end new homes with sea views, excellent design and high-tech fittings. In 2018, luxury villas here reached average prices of 4.5 million euros (2017: 4.5 million euros).
Apartments close to important amenities such as marinas and golf courses are also highly sought after both for private use and as capital investments. The average price for such properties is 800,000 euros, and is expected to rise further.
Engel & Völkers is currently brokering the premium property known as “The Seahouse” for 13.7 million euros, just next to the beach club in Port d’Andratx. The hillside villa consists of a main house and an adjoining guesthouse with an infinity pool. It spans an overall surface area of approximately 900 square metres, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms in total. The interior design concept for the villa was created in close collaboration with the Italian label Minotti, known for its classic and modern style, its clean lines and timeless aesthetic. Meticulously chosen art objects complete the luxurious furnishings. Besides its exclusive interior, the property also boasts a 380-square-metre terrace with panoramic views over the bay and the open sea.
