Considered to be a significant legacy for Portuguese golf, this course idealised by 'Sir Henry Cotton' enriched the luxury resort of Vale do Lobo (founded in 1962) by adding two golf courses, originally 9-hole courses, inaugurated in 1968 and 1972 respectively. His plan to combine the two courses came to fruition in 1985, giving rise to the Ocean Course after his passing.
The Ocean Golf Course's narrow fairways require meticulous precision throughout the round. With its 6122 meters, par 73, undulating layout with challenging doglegs, it includes two spectacular par 4, namely on holes 11 and 14, as well as a magnificent par 3 on hole 15, 192 metres from the back tee, rivalling the brilliant par 3 on hole 16 of its sister The Royal Course.
As you explore the Ocean Golf Course, you'll be guided between the stone pines and eucalyptus trees that reveal themselves between the picturesque houses that flank the fairways and greens located in stunning locations on the beachfront, right up to an authentic links-style hole. An experience that will certainly leave you impressed, we strongly recommend that you include it in your golfing itinerary in the Algarve.
