The program starts with an open day full of free activities for the students of the 2nd and 3rd cycles of the county in Praça Infante D. Henrique and in the Jardim da Constituição.
The inauguration begins at 5:30 p.m., with the presence of Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, Desidério Silva, president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and Joaquina Matos, president of Lagos Town Hall.
At 6:00 p.m., a sunset walk will take place at Ponta da Piedade, about 4 miles long, open to the population, with the presence of a national reference athlete and surprises for the participants.
According to José Viegas, coordinator of the main technical unit of communication, culture and tourism of Lagos Town Hall, the 2018 edition brings a novelty. "In the past, Algarve Nature Week has always had a fair component. This year, the idea is that each local operator has the opportunity to provide an experience to the public. Thus, the activities will be developed next to the headquarters of each one of the companies ".
Regarding the open day, Viegas adds that «the goal is to go all the way to Ponta da Piedade, which is being reclassified, encouraging the participance in the other days of the event, where you can try out all other leisure activities and entertainment related to nature. There is now a great desire for growth of companies in this sector, so the municipality of Lagos has been betting to complement the already established sun and beach product, so that we are an attractive destination throughout the year.
Joaquina Matos, mayor of Lagos, says she is "very pleased" to welcome this initiative and that it is "one more appreciation for the municipality".
The Algarve Nature Week is a nature tourism event with special offers on outdoor activities and accommodation units in the Algarve organized by the Algarve Tourist Region.
