The Portuguese sardine

Portuguese juicy, slow-grilled sardines is amongst one of the top traditional dishes of Portugal.

The traditional way to eat sardines is grilled, with plenty of salt, just before grilling and are best between late spring to mid-autumn when they are fat and juicy.

Served with boiled potatoes and a salad or simply placed on a slice of bread, sardines are the queen of Portuguese tables in the summer.

Canned sardines is another example of how this fish is so widely loved by the Portuguese. It's a simple way of enjoying this delicacy just preserved in genuine olive oil.

There are many Sardine festivals throughout summer in the Algarve. Enjoy and take de opportunity to visit us at Engel & Völkers Albufeira, near Galé.
