Portuguese olive oil: Liquid gold

With ancient origins, the proliferation of olive oil consumption is deeply associated with the Mediterranean diet, known for being one of the healthiest food diets in the world. And it’s in the Mediterranean that 95% of the olive oil consumed worldwide is produced, due to the dry climate and abundant sun of southern Europe.

Portugal is also among the largest olive oil producers in the world, with high quality products, including in the Algarve region, where some olive oils have been awarded for several successive years in different internationally recognized competitions, such as the New York International Olive Oil Competition, that in the 2020 edition had about 900 participants from 26 countries.
